Leeds, England August, 2001

Here we have the Leeds Concert festival. I think this was day 3. The British are very messy. Lots of trash. Every night they seemed to pick it up though. This was the best organized festival we have been to. From the buses to the site, to the cleanup every night. very impressive.

So this kid was having a great time getting down on his dad's shoulders. Cool thing is it was Iggy Pop playing! Iggy's been around a lot longer than this kid has.

And here is the man himself, Iggy. He was incredible. 57 years old and still totally going for it on stage. If I hadn't read differently I'd say he was on speed. Great live singer and very entertaining.

This is Green Day at the beginning of their set before the drummer lite his set on fire. The picture below is the set on fire. You can see the smoke billowing. They played 2 more songs with it burning in the background. Cool.

And now for the picture you have all been waiting for...THE NAKED PROGRAM SELLERS! If you click on the discreet black dot covering their personals you will get a much more personal view. You must, and I mean MUST, check out their web site...

A very well managed site and only nudity if you go looking for it so you don't have to be afraid.

Typical Marilyn Manson show. He sounded great. The antics were entertaining. But we had seen it in Praha in February. So it wasn't "great" like Iggy or Green Day.

Above we have PJ Harvey. She was awesome. She didn't say much. Just "thank-you" after a few songs. Her singing was excellent live and she was really into the music. She was also wearing VERY high heels. She gets a free membership to the Imelda club for being able to do an entire set in high heels.

Below we have RunDMC. They were fantastic. Very into the music and sounded great. It didn't know I knew so many RunDMC songs! The bummer was they got cut short because they squeezed in another band at the last minute that day. They looked pretty pissed off when the stage manager told them they couldn't do an encore. They really are the Godfathers of Rap.

This is exactly what it says...Not a Sushi Restaurant. It is a Japanese Stuff store. Furniture, cards, art and snacks (not sushi either). So obviously we didn't eat there but I wanted a picture.

We did eat here though. It isn't Sushi either. It is a Japanese noodle house. The portions were enormous and really good. It is relatively new and had some of the reviews it received when it first opened on the back page of the menu. One of them was so funny I wrote it down.

"As authentically Japanese as a Toyota built in Darby...cheap and nutritious"

Does that sound like a backhanded compliment to you too?

I of course did not know this before going to this festival, but the British are Pyromaniacs. Every night they would light multiple fires, as seen here, on the grass on the hill in front of the stage. Various security people would come by with fire extinguishers and put them out only to have the various pyro's IMMEDIATELY light them again. What's the deal?

And lastly we have the Leeds Festival at night. The lite structures to the right are the various food and clothing/stuff stands. We had excellent curries. Next year we hope to go to Reading to see the difference, but I recommend this one to anyone and everyone.
